It hadn't been him that made her worry, she had just dropped the calm facade she was good at wearing for a moment. With the attack only four days previous it was difficult to think of anything else. She'd spent the night that night in the concealed room in the basement with Sandra guarding her with a shotgun. It had been difficult for her to feel that helpless. She couldn't have fought that well if she had to, had it come down to that...all she had managed to do was go into labor a week and a half early

Luke finally looked back at Sarah, asking if she needed anything else he could get her before he left to go back to the town hall.
He knew too well the feelings of fear and helplessness. He had been ordered to stay with the children when the attack happened. Most people tried to tell him that it was because he was so good at calming the children, but he knew the truth. Most of the men didn't want to try and understand him, nor did they want to 'look after' him should they need to. It made it very hard for him to feel like a man around the Settlement when people still treated him like a child.

"No, Luke..I'm fine.." She replied, appearing to come back to herself a bit. The baby was done feeding, she closed the front of her nightgown, lifting the baby up onto her shoulder, patting her back softly. The baby fussed a bit at being moved, her tiny sock covered feet kicking about for a moment until mama began rocking again and she got comfy.

Luke nodded and smiled as he watched mom and baby adjust to the new postion. He rose from the chair and told Sarah good-bye. He would come see her again tomorrow, he was pretty sure. Maybe he would find Wolf here next time as well, and he could talk to him.

He is headed in a roundabout way toward home, supervising as the trail laterns are being lit by the young men they were training, since their last lamplighter had met an unfortunate end when the skulls attacked. It is still a bit before sunset, but already pitch dark in certain areas of the woods, where it remained dim even on sunny days. Once he was satisfied that they knew adaquately enough how to fill, trim the wicks and light the lanterns, Wolf left them to their business. He'd never send just one to do the job alone again.
He walked as always, near the side, or just off of the trail. He had a unique skill for blending in with the darkness. His footsteps were near silent, even in his steel toed work boots. Though his confidence hadn't wavered he had finally taken to carrying a pistol, in addition to his bladed weapons. Though he was most likely of anyone to bring a knife to a gun fight..it just wasn't feasable when there were too many freakin guns.

Luke stepped out onto the porch, closing the door securly behind him. As was his habit he paused for a few moments, listening to the way the woods sounded, you could tell a lot if you just listened...he had learned that the hard way.
As silently as possible he started down the stairs, picking his way along the trail carefully. Even with the lamps lit, there was no reason not to be careful.

He heard soft footsteps coming up the path, pausing for a moment along the trees. He knew they most likely belonged to one of their own, but he was careful nonetheless. They seemed to originate from the trail in the direction of his own home. Sometimes he made a game of suprising others in the dark. If they could learn to find him, they could find anyone. He stood stone still and waited for whoever it was to come closer.

Luke paused along the path, listening once more, the wind whispered through the trees, making no indication of anything out of the ordinary. He frowned a bit though, something seemed off to him. Shrugging it off he continued on his way, thankful for the light of the lanterns to guide his way back down to the New Village.

He watched him quietly, now only 3 yards away, close enough as he approached a latern for him to make recognition. He could almost have sworn he'd seen him stop and listen. He knew Luke had very good hearing, those who had lost the use of speech, or one sense normally did see an increase in sensitivity of their other senses to compensate.
He liked Luke, and unlike some of the others, he didn't treat him like he was broken. Sarah was teaching him sign, and while he was clumbsy at it..he knew enough to gather a bit of what Luke said usually. He liked his friendly demeanor, and his way with the children. He seemed trustworthy, or he would have never entrusted him with the position he filled at the town hall to begin with.

There it was again, that eerie sense that someone was out there watching him. Stopping under a lantern he once again took a look around, this time, squinting his eyes to see out into the darkness, a dark figure loomed out there. His eyes widened, he couldn't call for help, or even ask who it was, it was never a good thing to be alone like this when you couldn't speak.

He laughed under his breath as he watched Luke's face in the lamplight, seeing the expression that crossed his features. He could tell he had spotted him...one of only 4 of his men who had ever managed. He could however tell by his frightened look he coudn't tell who or what was standing there. He waited a moment..curious what his reaction to that was going to be. This was the man he had trusted to be the children's last line of defense, in case a situation like the other night had gone horribly awry, Wolf was more than curious to know.

The figure didn't move, or shout anything out to Luke, which he figured was a bit odd for someone from the Settlement, shouldn't they be identifying themselves by now? With the children the choice had been easy. If they were attacked, get them to saftey, then defend them the best way he could. He'd had a gun then, now however, he didn't have anything to defend himself or the camp with. His eyes slowly searched the ground, for a moment, though they flickered back to the unmoving shadow quite often, this was taking too long, maybe he had been mistaken? But no, he trusted his eyesight, trusted his hearing, they were there.
A sudden flashback to his football days and he knew what to do. Even though he had been a quarterback, he had also trained defensivly. Without a second thought he rushed the man, not knowing what else to do. If he was shot, so be it, the gunfire would alert others to the unwanted presence.

Seeing him move, he took the best course of action he could taking the time while he covered the distance to toss his pistol away into the brush. He wasnt afraid to get into a scuffle with Luke, but didn't want either of them being accidentally shot in the process. This was fault anyway, he had goaded him into it.
Feeling him hit, he had tossed him onto the groud, letting his own momentum carry him, following him down to the grass, he wanted to pin him, not hurt him.

Luke struggled to regain control, swinging out with his fist, hoping to contact face. He struggled against the restraining body, too angry and frustrated to realize who it was.

He'd rolled him face first into the dirt, pinning him there, his arm twisted at a harmless but painful angle behind his back. If he wanted to really harm him, he very well could have ten times over by now.
"Stay down, Luke" He finally spoke... waiting for him to react. He eased up the pressure on his arm a bit. When Luke appeared to calm down and recognize who he was, he'd let go.
